St. Louis is the second largest city in the U.S. St. Louis is located in the state of Missouri just south of the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.

St. Louis was founded in 1764 by colonial French traders who named the settlement after King Louis IX. Many African-Americans moved north to St. Louis during the Great Migration. Due to its French and Spanish colonization, St. Louis is one of the largest centers of Roman Catholicism in the U.S.

Saint Louis is famous for its music and contributed to the musical styles of blues, ragtime, and jazz. The St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful Major League Baseball teams. St. Louis is also called "North America's Best Sports City" due to a diversity of successful sports franchises in the city. Saint Louis’s brewing companies are also famous. These include: Anheuser-Busch and Falstaff Brewing Corporation.
